Dr. Major recieved her B.S. in Biology from Wheeling Jesuit University, Wheeling, WV. She conducted her graduate work in the laboratory of Dr. Christopher Cuff in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, West Virginia University, Morgantown, WV. There she studied the mucosal immune response of the small intestine against enteric viruses. After earning her Ph.D. in 1998, Dr. Major came to Vanderbilt as a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratories of Drs. MacRae Linton and Sergio Fazio where she studied immune-mediated mechanisms of atherosclerosis. Dr. Major has been a faculty member in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine since 2004. She has a secondary appointment in the Department of Pathology, Microbiology and Immunology.

Postdoctoral Fellows

Jillian received her B.S. in Biology from Gannon University in 2011. She joined the Major lab in the summer of 2012 and successfully defended her dissertation research in May, 2017.  Jillian is continuing as a postdoctoral fellow in the Major lab and studies the role of oxidized low density lipoprotein immune complexes in the development and progression of atherosclerosis.

Graduate Students

Graduate Student, Pathology, Microbiology and Immunology

 

Brenna received her B.S. from Susquehanna University. She joined the Major Lab in May 2017. She is studying the mechanisms of accelerated atherosclerosis in systemic lupus erythematosus.

Research Assistant I, Department of Medicine/Division of Rheumatology and Immunology

Jared is originally from Lynnville, TN. He received his B.S. in Biology from Trevecca Nazarene University in 2014. He joined the Major Lab in July, 2014. Jared plans on pursuing a graduate degree in Zoology/Ecology, with a particular interest in Mammology.
